This Is Our Home

This Is Our Home

Dr. David F. Ingrassia // 09.22.2016 // Charlotte Awake

“Last 24 hours of violent protest worst I have ever seen in Charlotte.”

State Rep. Kelly Alexander Jr. D-Mecklenburg County,
Twitter 09/21/16

This is our home.

This is our home, now under a declared state of emergency engaging the National Guard, and where tear gas floods Trade Street.

This is our home, where last night’s violence left seven people injured, including one shot by a fellow citizen and now on life support.

This is our home, where 75,000 fans cheer with one voice to support our NFL Panthers, and where we now stand inches away from each other shouting in anger.

This is our home, and we won’t keep quiet.

This is our home, where we hold our hands up together toward heaven with a prayer for righteousness and justice, grace and mercy.

We will not keep quiet before the throne of God. Our voices in prayer will be heard.

This is our home, where we will walk in peace, where we will not yield to hatred, where we will bow humbly before our Lord, Jesus, and where we will stand firmly against the very gates of hell that agitates us toward self-destruction.

We will not keep quiet. Thousands of us will join our voices in prayer. Tens of thousands of us will proclaim the Good News in Christ. We will pray.

This is our home.

Let your voice be heard. PRAY.
